Ruth Nicol, inspired by Alexander Moffat’s ‘Poets’ Pub’, investigates the landscapes of the seven great Scottish poets; Hugh MacDiarmid, Edwin Morgan, Norman MacCaig, Sorley Maclean, George MacKay Brown, Robert Garioch and Ian Crichton Smith. Capturing the vast and varied landscapes of Scotland during an intense period of national, artistic and cultural self-reflection.

'Leith In Winter' captures the extreme winter of 2010 which froze some of the docks in places. Many of the paintings work in pairs as key pivotal locations in Leith looking either north and south or east and west.

'To Kilmany' documents the journey from Edinburgh to Kilmany in Fife. Three of the paintings were selected for the Nairn Open Art festival and \'Feruchie Services on the way to Kilmany\' was selected as the over all winner 2009.
